What is a KTP Laser?

Laser is a focused beam of intense, “single-colored” light and heat energy with a specific wavelength but variable intensity and pulse duration designed to selectively interact with specific tissues of the skin.

The effect of laser depends on wavelength, degree of cooling, intensity of energy or fluence, pulse duration ranging from picoseconds to milliseconds, the intended targets, and skin type of the individuals. The effect of laser on tissues is specific and is based on the principle of selective photothermolysis.

Most lasers thus targets primarily very specific components of the skin. As such, combination treatments with other modalities and lasers generally produce broader and more effective outcome.

Laser can be used to treat the following conditions:

1. Skin tone
2. Melasma
3. Postinflammatory pigmentation
4. Diffuse pigmentation
5. Pigmented spots
6. Non-pigmented spots
7. Superficial pigmentation
8. Deep pigmentation
9. Rosacea and redness
10. inflammation
11. Large pores
12. texture
13. Fine lines
14. Firmness and skin tightening
15. Oil control and acne
16. acne scar
17. Spider vein
18. Leg vein
19. Hair removal
20. Tattoo
21. Dryness

Laser can help to produce the following results:

1. More even Skin tone
2. Improved Melasma
3. Improved Postinflammatory pigmentation
4. Improved Diffuse pigmentation
5. Lighter Pigmented spots
6. Smaller Raised spots
7. Lighter Superficial pigmentation
8. Lighter Deep pigmentation
9. Rosacea and redness
10. Redcued inflammation
11. Large pores
12. Smoother texture
13. Reduced Fine lines
14. Better oil and acne control
15. Acne scar
16. smaller Spider vein
17. smaller Leg vein
18. long lasting Hair removal
19. reduced tattoo
20. more hydrated skin

KPT Laser

This laser, potassium titanyl phosphate laser, is based on 532 nm wavelength which primarily targets blood, melanin, and red tattoos.

How does this treatment differ from the other options?

1. Primarily targets blood, melanin, and red tattoos
2. Superficial depth of light interaction
3. Best for fair to average skin toned skin individuals

What Conditions May Be Treated?

1. Melasma
2. Postinflammatory pigmentation
3. Diffuse pigmentation
4. Pigmented spots
5. Non-pigmented spots
6. Superficial pigmentation
7. Rosacea and redness
8. inflammation
9. Spider vein
10. Tattoo

Whom is the treatment for?

1. Patients with realistic expectation
2. Patients in good healthy conditions
3. Skin which has been properly sun protected, primed, and prepared

Whom is the treatment not for?

1. Patients with unrealistic expectation
2. Skin which has not been properly protected, primed, and prepared.

How is the treatment done?

As for preparation, proper topical medical product regimen is initiated prior to treatment. Once the skin is primed, treatment can be started.

After numbing medicine is washed off, the lasers are activated. Pin point rubber band like sensations will be felt, while the skin is cooled during most of the time. Sequential lasers are then used. Topical anti-inflammatory agents and sunblock are then used.

Generally, several sessions are required.

Results are more precise, longer lasting, and more complete when treatments are done in stages.

The treatment takes about half hour in an outpatient clinic setting
Topical anesthesia may be used.

What results may be expected?

21. More even Skin tone
22. Improved Melasma
23. Improved Postinflammatory pigmentation
24. Improved Diffuse pigmentation
25. Lighter Pigmented spots
26. Smaller Raised spots
27. Lighter Superficial pigmentation
28. Rosacea and redness
29. Redcued inflammation
30. smaller Spider vein
31. reduced tattoo

When will one see the results?

Results are gradual and can be seen beginning in three weeks. More effects will generally require multiple sessions of therapy.

How long do the results last?

Results last one year and longer when proper topical medical product regimen is maintained.

How to maintain or enhance my results?

Continued therapy, especially when combined with topical medicine regiment, would maintain and enhance results.
For more aggressive and faster results, combination with other modalities will be helpful.

What is the recovery like?

Recovery lasts one day.
Mild redness, moderate pinkness, soreness, and mild bruising are expected.
Prescription pain medications are generally not necessary.
Most people return to work and activities in the same day or few days.

Cost of Treatments

Cost of treatment options ranges from three to four digits. An in-person consultation with your specialist physician will help to determine the best suitable solution to your own individual needs.
