What is Thread Lift?
Thread Lift is a lifting procedure to improve visible and early signs of aging on the face and neck. PDO (Polydioxanone) and PLLA(Poly-L-Lactic Acid) threads are absorbable sutures which can improve early skin laxity by lifting and rejuvenate skin by stimulating collagen volume restoration. These sutures were initially developed for use in surgery procedures and have received FDA clearance and are now recognized as a safe, minimally-invasive alternative to traditional aesthetic procedures such as full face, jaw, brow, and neck lifts.
The primary benefit to this procedure over traditional facelifts are reduced costs, scarring, healing time, and invasiveness.
How does this treatment differ from the other options?
Modest but rapid improvement of skin laxity and volume restoration without surgical down-time
tissue lifting, fullness restoration, and skin rejuvenation
No incision compared to surgical facelift
Less costly than open surgery
Less recovery than traditional facelift
Less frequent maintenance
What Conditions May Be Treated?
How is the treatment done?
The area for lifting or volume restoration is marked. Under local anesthesia, needle puncture sites are used to insert the absorbable sutures, followed by undermining and massaging.
Smooth sutures are inserted at the desired sites to stimulate collagen restoration, whereas barbed sutures are inserted a distance to improve the desired sites skin laxity.
Treatment typically takes about an hour.
The procedure requires only local anesthesia.
What results may be expected?
Smoother forehead lines
Smoother Frown lines
Smoother Crows feet
Reduced Marionette lines
When will one see the results?
For lifting, the results are seen immediately, although optimal results are usually seen 2-3 weeks after the treatment.
For collagen volume restoration, the results are usually seen 2-3 weeks after the treatment.
Threads will dissolve within 3-6 months.
How long do the results last?
While the threads will dissolve within 3-6 months, the new collagen grown can continue up to 18 months after the treatment.
How to maintain or enhance my results?
Additional maintenance is required, although less frequent and less intensive than non-surgical options.
Healthy eating and exercise are helpful to enhance results.
Further treatment may be recommended to further results.
What is the recovery like?
Recovery lasts one weekend
Mild swelling, soreness, and moderate bruising are expected.
Prescription pain medications are generally not necessary.
Most people return to work and activities within one weekend.
